BLOGS vs WIKIS

These are two new Web 2.0 publishing tools. It is easy to post text, pictures and videos. Even businesses are exploring the use of blogs and wikis for a variety of purposes; from customer service and advertising to employee work spaces. Now that you have experienced both blogs and wikis, describe some of their features.

What websites do you use that are a type of blog or a wiki? If it were possible, how would you use a blog or wiki that you created in school? What subject area would you find it most useful? Why?

I have used Blogger before this computers class to look at other blogs. I have not used any other wikis before this class. In school, I would use a blog to ask my fellow students about homework. I would use a wiki to save writing pieces to share with my fellow students. I think that science would be the most useful subject for a blog because science is sometimes a really hard class, and it would help me in school. I think that language arts would be the best subject for a wiki because i could show my writing pieces to my other students, and if the teachers were apart of the wiki, i could send in my homework assignments.

I use gmail and aim which are both types of blogs and wikis. I would probably use a blog or wiki in school to keep track of my homework, so it would be like an assignment book. I think I would use it in all subjects because I would need to write down my homework in all subjects.

i think blogs are better and more useful than wikis because wikis dont do much. you can post different things, but you can edit other people pages which i think is kind of pointless. Blogs are easier for people to access too. So, i guess i like blogs better. More schools and stuff should use blogs.

Blogs are so much easier to use than wikis. In wikis they have to download. IN blogs they're quicker.

This is the only wiki i think i have ever used. In school, i think a wiki or blog would come in handy if you needed help on a homework assignment. You could ask a question so other students or the teacher could answer you if you were stuck. The class I can see this being the most useful in is spanish. Your computer may not be able to make marks over some letters, so if the teacher copies and pastes it, it would help out a lot.

I like wikis better then blogs because they are more colorful and exciting. But blogs are good for more serious usage. I'd find it useful to use either in language arts as a portfolio. Also, I use facebook, which is sort of like a blog and a wiki combined.

I use a lot of websites that are like a blog, such as gmail, facebook, blogger, and AIM. In school I could use it to post homework questions, assignments for the day, etc. I would find it most useful in L.A. because I can ask a lot of people hard questions that I didn't understand about the homework or something.
