Blogs vs Wikis

These are two new Web 2.0 publishing tools. It is easy to post text, pictures and videos. Even businesses are exploring the use of blogs and wikis for a variety of purposes; from customer service and advertising to employee work spaces. Now that you have experienced both blogs and wikis, describe some of their features.
What websites do you use that are a type of blog or a wiki? If it were possible, how would you use a blog or wiki that you created in school? What subject area would you find it most useful? Why?

I thought the wiki was a little hard to use sometimes because you didn't have as much freedom to move objects around like in word. If it were easier to use, I think I might really like it because it's a really good way to be able to share your projects with other people, even from your home. The idea of a blog is really cool, because I think its really convienient and cool because you can share all your ideas with other people. It would be really useful for people in a language arts class to share their writing.

I agree. I like the wiki better, but it would be nice to be able to move everything around more.

Wikis are a great way to share many file types on the web, but is also hard to change the position of the files easly. Blogs are great because they can be easly edited periodically and with a wide range of file types.

I like wikis more becuase you can share your pictures and animations. They could improve by making things easier to move around.

I thought the wiki was hard to use with the widjets or the file info how you have to downlode the movies on the page instead of them just playing but i also like the freedom you have to look at other peoples wiki but the blog is cool because your can coment on questions posed by differant people

It is easyer to interact with words, but really hard for anything else.

Blogs are much easier to use, wiki is difficult because its hard to deal with images and text, where blogs are more organized making it easier.

I used golgster and wiki.com. I would use my wiki to explain projects. I would find this useful for social studies because it could be a cool way to do a project.

I didn't love wiki, but it was useful and easy to use. I did not like the format and how it was difficult to place pictures. On the otherhand it was useful to create our own page safley and efficantly.

I believe wikis are better than blogs because wikis allow you to upload viedos and images much easier than blogs do. It is extremly annoying that you cannot really move files around on the wiki page, so that is an improvment that should be made. Although, I think wikis are better, blogs are probably best for most school classes. In actuality both are useful in the job and educational worlds.

I think that blogs and wikis are both great tools to use on the web. I like the wiki better though because you can upload pictures and other things. The blog is just as good, though.

I already posted but it didn't show up, so i'll post again. I think that blogs are a lot better. Wikis are great for sharing files and stuff, but i find a blog easier to edit, and a blog is more social than a wiki.

some features of the blogs are that you can have a lot of different subjects on one page and add links to some comments and some characteristics of the wiki is that you can add a 'link page' where everything is connected and that you can edit others pages unlike in the blog

I'm not sure how the blogs work as well as the wikis but it is hard to move things around on the wiki. If there are different wikis, besides wikispaces, that work better it would be real nice to use in all of our classes, for posting and sharing.

I think the Wikis are kinda cool because you can really show a huge amount of multimedia on it, however a blog is much more straight forward and very easy to navigate.

i liked the wiki better because you got to show a lot more, from everything inbetween pictures to links to other sites. blogs are really a place where you can chat with others and learn about cool things you might have not known about before.

Wikis are a 2way sharing various types of files. Similar to a blog which updates and has posts in chronological order. They are both visually appealing and informative internet mediums of communication.

I prefer wikis because there are so many options of things to post. I wish that you could have the freedom to move things around more but still prefer the wiki.

I liked the wikis better because you could add things. However, I thought some parts of it was difficult. It was hard to move things around and sometimes it wwas confusing on how you add things. However, I had fun editing and i like the wiki page.

I perfer to use the wiki because you can move things around and post things like your animations on here or your movies. On Blogs you can type and add graphics thats it. I like using blogs to post my poetry but wikis I perfer because you can go all out!

The class Wiki was a little difficult for me to use. There were a lot of steps needed to know how to add something onto your wiki. Another thing that I disliked about the Wiki was that it wasn't as easy to personalize as a blog. I had difficulties tring to move the things on my page around in order to get it took look like I wanted it to. A blog is also easier to share comments with others. To me it doesn't seem as obvious on the wiki. Although there were some negative things about the wiki, one thing I enjoyed was the capability you had to share mulitble files on website. Overall, I had a great expirience learning how to use different websites to share my work.
